Welcome to the GK Studio and Custom Photo Collage site. I’m Gus K Siegmund.  For most of my career I’ve been designing murals, photo displays and photo collages for commercial and retail environments.  I am excited to now be able to offer my photo collage ideas to private individuals as well.  I have developed something I call a ‘Dimensional Photo Collage’. This form of pictorial display is more than a simple flat photo collage design.  Each picture in the layout is on its own layer and ‘floats’ above the background or other photos for a striking dimensional effect.   Because I do not use templates or forms, each piece is unique.   Turn your life’s most important moments, significant achievements or memorable events into a one of a kind, eye catching work of art you will be proud to display in any room of your home or office.

In years past, we would race to the photo developer following an event or vacation to turn in our rolls of film and wait impatiently to see how our pictures turned out.  Today, with the advent of the digital camera and the ability to instantly see and retake the photos if necessary, curiously, we often leave them on the memory card or load them onto our computer with the notion that “one of these days” we are going to do something with them.  Here’s your chance to do something beautiful and creative that you can share with family and friends for years to come by ordering your own digital photo collage.

Any event or subject matter can be turned into a custom photo collage.  Weddings, graduations, vacations, hobbies (cars, equestrian, sports), babies, kids, landscapes, anniversaries, the list is endless.  If you can photograph it, I can turn it into a collage.  I have even done a collage of antique hood ornaments.

Please keep in mind, not every photo is a candidate for a custom photo collage.  Even if it is the only shot of Aunt Matilda if it’s too blurry it may not be usable.  Generally speaking pictures from phones are not of a high enough resolution.   It is ok if the picture is off center or crooked, but the image needs to be clear.  When in doubt, go ahead and send me the picture and I will let you know if it will work.

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR TAKING COLLAGE-READY PICS

  • Make sure you get a good picture of everyone you want to include. Someone may (will) take offense to being left out or having their eyes closed.
  • Occasionally turn the camera 90 degrees so you get a selection of landscape (horizontal) and portrait (vertical) shots. This makes the collage composition more interesting and gives me more latitude in the design.
  • Get shots of one or two people or objects up close.  Stand a little further back and get group shots.  Then stand all the way back and get some wide shots of the whole scene. Think of wedding photography. You’ll see everything from the whole wedding party to a close-up of the bride and groom’s hands displaying their new rings.
  • When taking pictures of people up close (and this is important) it is better to stand back a little and zoom in slightly to take the photo rather than standing 3 feet away and shooting. This is because most cameras, when you first turn them on, default to a wide angle shot. If you take a close-up picture of someone’s face this way it will have a slight ‘fish bowl’ appearance to it.  No one looks good like that, not even fish!

Most of the dimensional photo collage designs you’ll see on this site are a standard size, roughly 18” x 24” with 8 to 12 photos. These are the dimensions on which I based my pricing.  However, I’ll be glad to quote any other size or shape with more or fewer photos.

I hope you enjoy looking around the GK Studio and Photo Collage site. I’m looking forward to working with you to help create a lasting memory- your own unique photographic work of art!

Testimonials

“When I first saw a friend’s 3D photo collage from Gus at GK Studio, I knew it would make a perfect gift for my wife.  Gus was great to work with - I sent him the photos and a couple ideas and let him work his creative genius.  He quickly provided a couple layouts, I picked one, tweaked it, and approved the final version.  The collage arrived well in time for Christmas and was extremely well-packed.  The final product is high in quality and completely unique!  Everyone loves it and I’ve given Gus’ contact info to many friends who have seen it.” Jeff R. “When I received my dimensional family collage in the mail from Gus… I couldn’t wait to open it. Once I did… I was left speechless. I was in awe of how Gus took just a few of my favorite pictures and was able to turn them into something that captured the heart of my family.  This collage is priceless to me and the quality of it ensures that it will stay in my family forever. Because of the quality of this piece and the dedication Gus put into making it absolutely perfect I couldn’t wait to start spreading the word and showing off my own personalized piece of art that reflects my family. Everyone I show it to loves it and wants one. The dimensional effect makes it a stand out piece in my house and gives it, its unique character. Gus’ work is outstanding…he will work with you throughout the entire process to ensure that he is creating the perfect piece for you. I can’t thank him enough for the beauty and heart my collage has brought into my home.” Brandi L, FL
